77 years ago today, the naval base at Pearl Harbor was attacked by Japanese bombers, setting forth a series of events that led the United States into WWII.

Every year we remember this day, and honor those who lost their lives during the tragic bombing; however, this year is especially important to the NCDMVA. Back in October, our office learned that the remains of Fireman First Class Jarvis Outland, a Murfreesboro native, had been recovered from the wreckage of the USS Oklahoma. We were at the funeral held for him in November, as this honorable veteran, and NC citizen, was finally laid to rest with the honor he rightfully earned.

Sometimes history can hit close to home. The sacrifices of those who answer the call of service resonate with us everyday, even if decades have passed.
