Jimmie Bellamy
Jimmie is a proud native of NC whose experiences have shaped his commitment to public service. After earning a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Jimmie worked with the nation’s Defense Intelligence Agency where he gained experience in human and counter-intelligence. It was this experience that helped solidify his belief in the importance of service and citizenship. Inspired to pursue public service, he obtained his Juris Doctor from North Carolina Central University School of Law and became a member of the North Carolina State Bar.
Jimmie direct commissioned into the United States Air Force as an active-duty Judge Advocate Officer. While serving as Chief of Military Justice and Chief of Litigation, he advised military commanders, oversaw investigations, and litigated courts-martial on behalf of the United States as a federal prosecutor. Jimmie then represented military members as Area Defense Counsel, a role that he continues to hold as a Major in the NC Air National Guard.
After serving on active duty, Jimmie joined the Office of North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper and served as a Policy Advisor where he focused on issues relating to the North Carolina Department of Transportation, Department of Environmental Quality, Department of Natural and Cultural Resources, and Department of Military and Veterans Affairs. He also served as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Eastern District of North Carolina and civilian attorney at Seymour Johnson’s Air Force Base Legal Office before joining North Carolina’s Department of Military and Veterans Affairs as General Counsel.
Jimmie is married and a proud dad of three young children.
