What is the Resource Guide?
Relocating or transitioning into civilian life can be overwhelming and challenging for the military and Veteran communities. To help ease the process, we have developed a Resource Guide that is designed to ensure that all who serve and have served, along with their families have access to the benefits and resources to which they are entitled.
State Resources
NCDMVA has a devoted team of Veterans Service Officers who ensure that Veterans and their loved ones are aware of and able to maximize the benefits and resources available to them.
Find your Veterans Service Center
Note: Most counties in North Carolina also offer services for Veterans and support with claims and obtaining benefits. You can visit your county’s website and search for ‘Veterans services’ to learn what is available in near you.
NCDMVA runs full-service skilled nursing care homes across the state, providing high quality care to Veterans and eligible family members, meeting their unique needs.
NCDMVA operates and maintains cemeteries across the state that provide a dignified final resting place for Veterans servicemembers and their eligible family members.
Health Resources
The Veterans Health Administration (VHA) is the largest integrated health care system in the United States, providing care to millions of enrolled Veterans through a nationwide network of VA medical centers and outpatient clinics.
The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services manages the delivery of health and human related services for all North Carolinians, especially for Veterans and their families.
Education Resources
The VA has resources available to Veterans and their families.
North Carolina Scholarship Program was created to show its appreciation for the services and sacrifices of its war Veterans.
The NC Community Colleges System offers services and support for student Veterans.
North Carolina appreciates its military connection and strives to provide support systems to meet the unique needs of military families.

Transition Resources
NCDMVA provides Transition Services, which serves as the bridge between military service and Veterans affairs, to servicemembers and their families leaving the military.

DoD TAP is an outcome-based statutory program (10 USC, Ch. 58) that bolsters opportunities, services, and training for transitioning Service members in their preparation to meet post-military goals.
Employment Resources
NC4ME is a comprehensive public-private partnership designed to make NC the number one state for military employment. NC4ME educates business leaders on the value of hiring a military workforce, shows small businesses and human resource professionals how to hire military personnel, and connects military talent to open jobs, education, and training opportunities in North Carolina.
The NCWorks Veterans Portal offers a collection of resources, including postings, providing services for Veterans, transitioning service members, and eligible spouses to obtain employment.
NC Works Career Centers were created to give job-seekers the tools they need to find work, improve their skills, and connect them to other resources needed to make a good impression on employers.
The North Carolina National Guard offers an employment center called Work for Warriors to increase and support career opportunities for reserve-component soldiers, Veterans, military spouses, and qualifying dependents.
Hiring Our Heroes (HOH), a national non-profit, connects the military community—service members, military spouses, and Veterans—with American businesses to create economic opportunity and a strong and diversified workforce.
