NC Department of Military & Veterans Affairs Celebrated Four Year Anniversary

Raleigh - The North Carolina Department of Military and Veterans Affairs celebrated its four-year anniversary on today Wednesday, September 18th at 11:30 am. The event was held at its headquarters located at 413 N. Salisbury Street in Raleigh.

The celebration was attended by veterans, the NC National Guard, members of the NC General Assembly, members of Governor Coopers Cabinet, as well as representatives from the NC USO, the American Legion, the Montford Point Marines, Disabled Veterans of America, National Association of Black Veterans, and other veteran service organizations from across the state. Additionally, there was information on services and programs currently provided by the Department and other veteran service organizations.

Regarding the importance of the occasion, NC DMVA Secretary Larry Hall stated “The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs performs a critical role in maintaining North Carolina’s status as the nation’s most military and veteran-friendly state. “Our major goal is to ensure that the military and our state’s veterans are a part of the community and not considered a part from the community."

The event concluded with a presentation to Secretary Hall of a proclamation from Governor Cooper proclaiming September 18th as the four-year anniversary of the Department.

The NC DMVA was created in 2015 to streamline all services and initiatives aimed at assisting veterans, active duty military, military installations and communities, and military families. The Department focuses on connecting veterans and military families with jobs and vital services, while protecting military installations and the communities surrounding them.
