NCDMVA roadshow wraps with NC4ME hiring event, ready to turn the movement into results

The North Carolina Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (NCDMVA) will conclude its statewide roadshow on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW). For this final stop, NCDMVA is partnering with North Carolina for Military Employment (NC4ME) to host a NC4ME hiring event, connecting employers with pre-screened, job-ready transitioning service members, Veterans, and military spouses.

“With more than 682,000 veterans calling North Carolina home — and thousands of service members transitioning out of the military each year — they are an incredible asset to our workforce and a strength to our economy,” said North Carolina Department of Military and Veterans Affairs Secretary Jocelyn Mitnaul Mallette, a United States Air Force Veteran. “This roadshow has shown employers across the state the untapped potential of our military-connected community — their leadership, adaptability, and resilience. It is a great wrap-up to turn that momentum into results with the NC4ME hiring event at our final stop.”

The “Unlock the Veteran and MilSpouse Advantage” roadshow is a collaborative statewide initiative that brings together employers, workforce leaders, and community partners to strengthen employment opportunities for Veterans and military-spouses. Five of the six stops were held throughout the year in Durham, Asheville, Winston-Salem, Charlotte and Greenville, with more than 350 business leaders attending across all events.

During the hiring event at the final stop, candidates are pre-screened and matched with roles that algin with their skills and experience through NC4ME’s structured process. “Employers will participate in pre-scheduled interviews, making the event efficient, targeted, and impactful for filling open positions with highly qualified individuals,” said NC4ME Executive Director Lynn Kinney, a United States Marine Corps Veteran. “This is a valuable opportunity to accelerate hiring efforts, meet exceptional candidates, and continue supporting North Carolina’s military and Veteran communities.”
