For the fifth consecutive year, the North Carolina Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (NCDMVA) is participating in the national Operation Green Light campaign and encouraging North Carolinians to change a lightbulb outside their home or business to green during the week leading up to Veterans Day, November 4 – 11, 2026.

The initiative serves as a visible show of support and appreciation for the more than 682,000 Veterans who call North Carolina home. Throughout the week, NCDMVA headquarters (in Raleigh’s historic Seaboard Building), the North Carolina Executive Mansion, and NCSECU headquarters will be illuminated green in honor of North Carolina’s Veterans.

“While the debt we owe our Veterans can never truly be repaid, Operation Green Light is a simple but meaningful way to honor their service,” said NCDMVA Secretary Jocelyn Mitnaul Mallette, a United States Air Force Veteran. “Together, we can show our Veterans that their sacrifices are recognized and appreciated.”

NCDMVA encourages individuals, businesses, local governments, and community organizations across the state to participate by displaying a green light and sharing their support for Veterans.
