Governor Cooper Declares May Military Appreciation Month in North Carolina 

The NC Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (NCDMVA) Secretary Walter E. Gaskin, Lt. Gen (Ret.), and North Carolina First Lady Kristin Cooper welcomed the Fort Bragg Family of the Year to Raleigh to recognize their selfless service to their community during the Month of the Military Child.

On behalf of the North Carolina’s more than 800,000 active duty military service members, veterans, and their families recognition with the NCDMVA Military Spouse Award.

In response to Governor Cooper’s Executive Order and preparedness plan to slow the spread of COVID-19, the NCDMVA has implemented the following policies and procedures at all of our service offices, veterans homes, and memorial cemeteries.

The NC Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (NCDMVA) will celebrate the 2nd North Carolina African American Lineage Day in commemoration of the many contributions of African Americans in the U.S. military for Black History Month.  Part of an ongoing collaboration with the NC Museum of History, NCDMVA will produce a documentary to honor and salute African American service members who broke color barriers when the U.S. military was segregated.

The NC DMVA, along with other state cabinet agencies, will partner with the USO of NC and the Fort Bragg Family Welfare and Recreation Center, to host the first ever Military Spouse and Family Expo on January 30th.

Governor Roy Cooper today shared a list of state government support resources for military servicemembers and their families as thousands of troops from Fort Bragg and Camp Lejeune are deployed

The North Carolina Department of Military and Veterans Affairs celebrated its four-year anniversary on today Wednesday, September 18th at 11:30 am. The event was held at its headquarters located at 413 N. Salisbury Street in Raleigh.
